BAS at BEECHE Sept 5th & 6th
“BEECHE (Bromley Environmental Education Centre at High Elms) is a community facility that delivers environmental education to schools and provides visitors with information on how to live a sustainable lifestyle. It is situated within the beautiful High Elms Country Park; a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) located within the nominated 'Darwin's Landscape Laboratory' World Heritage Property and aims to build on the work of Charles Darwin and Sir John Lubbock, encouraging ‘greener thinking for greener living’. The building is a single storey timber frame with a ‘green’ sedum roof, straw bale walls and sun pipes. “
That's the official view – it misses out a nice cafe! The immediate surroundings consist of a pond with wooden observation platform, orchard with beehives and a collection of old flint buildings – all good subjects for painting and drawing.
The weekend of 5th & 6th Sept sees the first collaboration between BAS and BEECHE. We shall be mounting an exhibition of a few of our members' works inside the centre. Weather permitting, we hope that we shall have members painting and sketching outside at times during the weekend. We very much hope that you will join us – it should be good fun and a great advert for the society. We have more events planned at BEECHE. Please contact me (Adrian Fowle) via the contact form if you think you can join us. I shall post any last minute updates on the web site.
